I don't know what exactly it's called... or if there even is a name for it, but whenever someone turns off the lights, they say my form just seems to shift and morph and I end up looking like a dog or just like a canine-like creature. I've had a lot of people say this more and more often, friends, family, you know? I don't really think it's a form of shifting, but at the same time, I've never really seen anyone's form change as soon as the lights go off.

*shrug* I don't believe in this form of shifting, but yes, it's on the "list". (Shadow shifts, that is.) I'm thinking it's more of a perception issue than anything. Shadows are caused by light barriers, so that would mean that physically, something needs to be enabling you to look like that. Even though people can have phantom and aural shifts, I definitely don't believe it's "strong" enough to ever have a true physical effect. If I knew anyone who does believe in this type of shift or experienced it, I would definitely point them out to you. But in my four years (on and off) of communities, I've never met anyone to claim anything of the sort. --- Well, I re-read this and.. That sounds rather odd. So, you're saying, that in the dark people have been perceiving you to be more canine-like? Again, I think it'd be mostly a trick of perception and shadows. Above, I was speaking of physical shadows, but I've also heard this definition, which sounds similar to yours: First Google result: SLAD: Overview of Therianthropy

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. I just thought people were being stupid and messing with my head. xD But since I heard a lot of people say it in different lighting conditions I guessed I was doing some weird kind of shifting or just making people go crazy.
I find it fun because then I can sneak up on people in the dark. >=D Rawr. Hm, I should actually try looking in a mirror in the dark, mwuahahaha. >;3
