I'm not sure if I was supposed to make this a new topic, or to just tag it onto the end of someone else's. Well, here goes! Please correct me if I've done the wrong thing; I'd hate to make a bad impression!
What do you wish to be called?
Suzanne. It's the name my mother gave me, and I'm rather fond of it. No "Suzy", please.
How old are you?
Seventeen years old.
Are you male or female, or somewhere in between? In other words, what is your gender identity?
I am genetically, bodily, and mentally a girl, and hoping to stay that way. No offense to those who change; it's just not the walk of life for me.
Are you a therian?
I believe so.
What is your theriotype?
A black panther. But I thought the term was theroside?--that's what I've been using.
How did you come to these conclusions?
Well, I always figured that there had to be something animalistic in me. I bit people when I was angry up until I was ten (and one isolated incident a few months ago, but that was different; I was tired and provoked). I recognize people by their scent. I can actually smell catnip. I also run up stairs on all fours (it feels natural), have occasional compulsions to run outside and climb trees, and will pounce randomly onto beds and such.
What kind of influence is your theriotype? In other words, is it an inner influence, and outer influence? Or something else entirely. Please explain!
Mm...well, to be honest, Rocayx doesn't influence me much. I call on him mostly when I'm nervous or alone, or if I need someone to bounce ideas off of. Occasionally, he'll offer his opinion or advice on a problem I'm facing, but usually he lets me live my own life.
Have you ever shifted? If so, what are your experiences with shifting?
Rocayx is a fairly separate entity.
Although once during my religion class, during a meditation, I had a full-body shift as a seagull. It was strange, because the whole time I was flying over water, and I knew it wasn't the ocean. It was a bay of some kind.
Do you consider yourself any particular "type" of therian? In other words, are you a contherian? A syntherian? So on. (If you do not know what these terms mean, that's alright, please let us know.)
The Internet says that a contherian is someone who doesn't experience shifting, but feels like they are human and animal at the same time. I guess that's me. What is a syntherian, though?
How long have you known about your therianthropy? When did you come into the community?
It's interesting, really. When I was in middle school, a friend of mine started drawing me as a cartoon panther, and it felt right to me. Then I started to imagine that there was a black panther in the back of my mind by the name of Nightbringer, and she had a cub named Wildsol with her. I would frequently talk to them when I was bored or upset.
They faded from my thoughts until junior year of high school, when I was sitting in a Zen garden near my house. I kept feeling like there was a presence behind me, something big, powerful, and dark. "Wildsol" had returned, although he stubbornly told me that he would not associate with me until I gave him a real name. (Wildsol was the name of a friend's character, and I stole the name because I liked it.) I called him Rocayx, which he seemed to like. He's been with me ever since.
I would like to add that not long after my first real meeting with Rocayx, he informed me that Nightbringer had been imaginary, there to care for him where he was still a cub.
Are you otherkin?
No.
What led you to this conclusion? If you are both otherkin and therian, please explain why you feel you are both.
N/A
How long have you known about otherkin? When did you realize you are otherkin?
N/A
What do you hope to gain from joining our community?
I guess just that: a community. I haven't told my parents or anyone how I feel, because I was raised (and personally feel) very Catholic, and the church doesn't really approve of therianthropy. It seems I've been a therian for a while now without realizing, and I still don't know much about it.
