I just got married on... well, yesterday (the 20th), and I figured you guys might want to see some pics, since we were more than free to be therian-like.
These four pictures were taken afterwards, but they show what we were wearing, so I'll post them first. My dress is based off of a red-tailed hawk, and his shirt is based off of (dundundun!!!) a golden eagle. His mother made those for us. She rocks.
I do hope that posting pictures is not a problem.
Me:
And Asazi:
This is White Sage - they're a spiritual singing group (mainly shamanic/earth-based). The one on the left is certified to do marriages, and she did ours. The other two sang and served as witnesses.
First, we made an altar...
Somewhere in between altar making and hand-binding, we said our vows.
But... we did the hand-binding thing. For those who aren't familiar with it, basically, they tie one of your hands to one of their hands, and it symbolizes being bound together in marriage. We used eagle jesses to tie our hands together (jesses are those leather straps that falconers tie to the legs of their birds to keep them from flying when they're not supposed to).
Smooch.
Us afterwards. Isn't that location just awesome? It's our power-spot, and we go there all the time, so we felt that place was fitting.
We got our rings tattoo'ed on. They are supposed to look like bird bands. Mine says RTHA 200-80320, and his says GOEA 200-80320. RTHA is the abbreviation for red-tailed hawk, and GOEA is the abbreviation for golden eagle. 200-80320 is the date we got married (2008/03/20 - year, month, date).
Nutritious food. ;D
And, we're still wearing the eagle jesses, just on our ankles.
BTW... the wedding was sort of shamanic in nature. Even down to talking to our spirit guides. The purple box in the altar pic is kind of a medicine bundle-type thing - we put a few items into it which symbolized us and our marriage, etc.
The whole thing was amazing. We saw a total of 15 bald eagles that day, a falcon, two golden eagles and several hawks. The birdies wuv us. And during the time that we were there (it was located at a state park), there wasn't a single person there. At least, not that we saw. It was totally perfect.
