Last night I did a meditation where I tried to experience a past life regression, but no such luck. Every time I reached my Middle World--my creek--I would get pulled out by the yapping yipping rat dog next door. So I ended it.
Today was different. I got in the zone, first not focusing on anything in particular. After surrounding myself in white purifying, protective light (and being vaguely aware of Metallica playing in the living room) I found myself standing in the shallow creek. I felt the warmth of the pebbles and rocks against my feet and the warm water flowing around my right hand. I looked up and around. Middle World was rippling like a memory, gold and hazy. I tried to focus more on staying there, but the music from the other room seemed to grow. I just decided to pull myself out.
Calmed and inspired, I did my daily drawing (of my Past Life Altar) and then messed around, playing my wooden flute. Putting it down, I reached for my drum instead, and played around with it, exploring it's voice and experimenting with the sticks. Before I knew it, my hands were drumming and I was slipping away into a trance. Mentally, or consciously, I wasn't controlling the hands, I just let them go. They started out slow, then sped up, exploring the different parts of the drum on their own. It was almost like the drum was communicating with me. What it was saying, I wasn't sure.
Then I could hear the voice of the drum, a gentle hum beneath the quick, rhythmic pounding. In hearing its voice, I suddenly felt myself falling. First my arms felt light, then it felt like I was being pulled away from myself.
Finally! I thought. I've experience this sensation before, which normally leads to an OBE/Astral Travel or a past life regression.
Focusing on the Drum's Voice, I felt the pull again, fast and painless. Then felt something I've never experienced! I don't even know how to really explain it other than it felt like my Soul's head was being widened and elongated. I felt my eyes separating and moving to the sides of my skull. My Astral Self opened my eyes and I was able to see both sides of the bedroom, independently!
Some part of me must freaked out because everything was returning to normal. The beat skipped and became irregular. But I was calm. Yet my Astral head returned to normal. I wanted to experience more. I was regaining sensations of myself and the room (sandalwood incense and lilac oil, the flickering of the candle light, the sounds from the living room). Whatever pulled me from the vision must've felt that I wasn't ready. I dunno. Perhaps it wasn't so much as an outside force, as much as it was the shock of what was happening Astrally.
I pulled myself out and back to the physical plane. The drumming had stopped, I moved my fingers, toes, neck--slowly coming out. Though I still felt the sensation of not fully being out of trance, I took it slow. I stretched and opened my eyes. Grounded myself. Then reflected on what I had just experienced. It was wild, I've never had an Astral experience like that.
Hopefully I can delved a little deeper tomorrow night. I'm not expecting 100% results every time, but this experience has given me confidence. I've felt similar shifting like this with my hands, legs, and feet, but always when I'm awake. That was the first time I've ever experienced something like this, especially concerning my head and eyes.
What are your thoughts on this experience? Have you ever had a similar experience?
