I suppose I'll start with the basics. My name is Kiya, pronounced 'k-eye-uhh', and I am 22. I have been Therian my whole life, but only a few years ago even realized that there was a word for what I was feeling. As most of you probably did, I questioned it a lot at first. Doubted myself, felt naive, and scared. More so, I felt like a freak. When I first was looking into an explanation for what I was experiencing and feeling, and thus discovered Therianthropy, I honestly felt as though I might be a feline of some kind. And, although I love my feline Therianthrope friends, I am the farthest thing from a cat person. I tolerate "real" cats, to say it nicely.
It took me years to fully understand and accept myself as what I truly am... a fox. I mean, when I first thought about it, and did research, it made so much sense. Reading about the nature of foxes was like reading a description of myself! It was both exciting, and nerve-racking. I had gone on so long wondering if I was a cat in denial, that I at first thought my 'jump' to the fox was simply my way of getting as far from cats as I could manage. But after much thought, much more research, and a lot more time to really look at my life from as outside a point of view as I could, I couldn't escape what and who I was (and am).
So yes, I am a Therian. My theriotype is a Red Fox. And in all ways, except for the obvious physical ones, I am very much like that of a stereotypical fox.
To sum things up, the reason I am even joining this site is because I have spent the last 7 years of my involvement with the Therian community almost solely on either different IRC chats, or Werelist. I love all my existing Therian friends and connections, though I am getting antsy to meet new people and experience many different ideas and philosophies. I would like to meet others, share ideas, grow upon this foundation for spirituality that has blossomed within me. I do experience Shifts, though they are very rare and I tend to keep them very "controlled" (as controlled as I can manage). Mostly, they are aural and spiritual shifts, though I have been known to feel phantom-ears on my head.
I am open to any and all questions you may have for me, and am excited to get to know you all! I hope your day is fantastic. :3
