Hi, I'm Mud Paw...I was told this was a place I might want to check out...so here I am <^-'> I want to start with a clean slate and meet some new people. I know things in the therian community have changed alot in the recent years and I feel a bit out of the loop. I want to try and connect again, being solitary can tear a bit at the nerves and the mind sometimes. I can be a little dark and cutting sometimes, but I'll go ahead and apologize now just in case. I mean no harm, but I am a badger no less I'm 24, female, a polymorph(though my dominant side is a ferret badger-a real species, Melogale personata, not a hybrid of ferret/badger), married (to a non-therian), I'm pretty much Pagan (though I draw from a mixture of pantheons and philosophies, I'm a bit of a spiritual mutt )a horticulture student (almost done!), an artist, an otaku, a costume maker, history buff, and lover of all things Japanese...especially SUSHI!<^-'> I currently live in GA, USA. I've been part of the therian community for roughly 6 years now. So...enough info? have any other questions, just ask ! -Mud Paw

Hi! No, I never met a badger before either. Welcome Mud Paw! Um.. just one thing, you say you are a polymorph, but only mention the ferret badger. If that is an animal in it's own right, what makes you a polymorph? I hope you feel welcomed now! ;D

Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes <^-^> yeah, I always find it a tiny bit sad that I have never met another badger, and might not ever. It's ok though, I know many more therian/otherkin even more unusual Ok, let's see if I can explain this and not come off like a crazy person... Lieka: Well, the ferret badger is my dominant side. I always feel a bit weird jumping into a new place all my weirdness on the outside I have 4 (5 total) other "selves" so to speak. They never mix and are separate versions of me. It's kind of hard to explain. The ferret badger is somewhat of a "base form" of myself. It's a constant and always what I fall back to, a "default" may be the better word. As of right now, I consist of ferret badger/river dragon/phooka...mainly. I have 2 other sides that I am less inclined to talk about and generally don't discuss much, one is what I call a "fallen" the other is a creature I can't really identify and give a name, though it resembles a ki'rin. It all makes the whole mess even messier . I don't fall into the "system" category as it may appear. These different entities are all identifiable as me, be it in the past or on some other plane or existence(wow I'm getting a bit out there trying to describe this, sorry ) rather than other beings/people. I hope that made some sense <^-^> ....*needs to go lie down after all that typing*

Hi there, welcome to the tree.
Ferret-badger, cute ^^. Allthough I'm a little confused... what's a Ki'rin? (I looked up a phooka, and I think I get it, but the other confuzzles me...)

Ritz: Here's a good page with some Ki'rin (aka Quilin) info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qilin I wish there was a better one, but the majority of sites with decent info on Ki'rin are in other languages, hence lots of translation if that doesn't explain well, I can always write up a little something It's a whole lot easier than me typing out paragraphs I'm really glad to hear you roughly understand what a phooka is. In my opinion is more complicated to explain than a ki'rin.

Welcome, Mud Paw!
I'm not so sure that either Phooka or Ki'rin is so difficult to explain -- at least in rough, general terms:
A phooka is a fun-loving, shape-changing spirit whose favorite holiday is April 1st.
A ki'rin is essentially an Eastern version of Europe's Unicorn, with a few differences.
At least, that's how I think of each of them.

hehe....Hi torahanjyuu! Actually phooka are more commonly associated with Samhain (Last day of the Ancient Year/Halloween). They are said to claim all harvest not picked by November 1st (the first day of the ancient new year). It was said they "mark" it, making it poisonous/unsuitable for human consumption. They also often go beyond mischief too....the Irish phooka is known to throw lost travelers off cliffs to their death(pony form) /lead lost travelers off a cliff in the fog(figure with a torch)/they also can take the form of giant eagles and trick people onto their back, never to be seen again/and lastly they are known to leap upon passersby's backs and cripple them permanently(usually a large goat-man form).....so, we can be a nasty bunch;) ....yay for too much research....
