I don't know how active I'll be here since I belong to more forums than I can possibly keep up with, but this one looked good too so I decided to join.
My name is Shimmerhawk and some of you may have seen me in other places. Here's a little bit about my therianthropy, copied from an entry on Werelist so I don't have to rewrite it:
I'm not entirely sure what my theriotype is, but the best way I can describe it is as a canine/avian chimera. It's quite fluid and it only reflects real animals but never really fits them, so it's hard to describe. Generally the form is a gryphon or winged canine, and it has changing colors and bits and pieces that reflect various birds of prey and canines. The canine form has a heavy muzzle that's more doglike than wolflike, which I find interesting since other people have described something similar. Probably the strangest part of the whole thing is that the changing colors and forms seem to correlate with my mood and with strong connections to different landscapes and elemental energies.
It expresses itself through phantom shifts and it's always a part of my mindset as well, leaving me with a bizarre mix of human, bird, and canine that all together is really unlike any of its parts. I'd definitely have to call it something mythical. If I try to break it down into parts, I'd say that I feel like a bird inside a canine inside a human. I don't experience m shifts but rather everything is mostly integrated with slight mood changes.
Some people might consider me otherkin rather than therian. *shrugs* I spent years soulsearching and trying to force myself to fit real animal species, but it was always wrong. Finally I had to step back and could then see what had been there consistently all along.
Non therian info: I'm 26, female, and recently moved from Minnesota to Virginia (it's much warmer here!). I have a BA in Art (sculpture) and a minor in philosophy. I do some sculpting, some painting, and a little drawing. I'm a bit cranky and not terribly social outside of the internet, and I like to spend time out and about enjoying nature, older architecture, etc.
