Well I'm trying to help revive this board so I figure I may as well post something.
So what are your totems? I know that at least one of mine is the Orca but I'm not sure about the rest though.

I'm not really sure what my totems are now. At one time I had it all figured out. I had a totem for each of the 4 elements and one for self, which was my theriotype. I feel things have shifted a bit now though. my totems used to be as follows; Earth-horse Water-dolphin Wind-eagle Fire-dragon Self-Utahraptor Since I came up with that I've started to feel more deer energy and less horse energy and eagle has shifted to being my theriotype. I may have to rethink my totems again.

Well, that's a hard question to answer, since people tend to have both permanent and temporary totems. I can say I've had a few temporary ones lately... but I really am not sure about long-term totems - I think eagle (not sure which species, bald or golden) may be one, crow or raven another, and perhaps osprey. But I don't really know for sure what they all are.

Yes. I thought the wolf was my theriotype for a while, but as it turns out, I am a cicada.
From what I hear, confusing totems for theriotypes is fairly common.

I know that for long term totem, horse has been with me for quite some time. (actually wondering if I'm confusing him for my second therio-type...not sure yet, though. Doing some studying)
and I've done some off and on work with bat
other than that, I don't have any other totems I'm aware of

I suppose I have two spirit guides, an eagle and a winged house cat of some sort. Not sure if they are totems though.

Yeah. I know my spirit guides, but they are something more personal than totems - I can actually have conversations with them, and they are here to help and protect me, as opposed to just giving me some kind of message at certain points in my life. The ones I mentioned in an above post, though, are totems, and not guides. But that's another reason why it's kind of hard to differentiate, and tell if it's your totem, your guide, or a mixture of both. It's that last one that gets confusing.

I appear to only have totems and no spirit guides. I can't say I've ever heard of a mixture of the two before. Do you have one of these, Min?

From what I know, you cannnot only have totems and no spirit guides. More likely you just don't know who/what your spirit guides are.

Honestly, it is just what I have heard. No, I do not "KNOW" this. It's from what I have read and believe.

Zeno... again, I'm not totally sure on this topic, but I think so. First of all, for me personally, a totem tends to be more impersonal, and is something that's there to tell me something I need to know at that point in my life - they tend to be temporary. They speak through their actions, and their main job is showing me what they need to show me. The ones I considers spirit guides, are closer to me. They stay with me, regardless of the circumstance, actually speak to me, through words/mind/emotion rather than just physically, and are more long-term. That's just how I differentiate between the two - not that I'm right or wrong, that's just how I see things.
So yeah... considering that's how I define the two for myself, I'd say yes. Eagles (though I'm not sure on species, so I'm using both bald and golden here)... I've had them speak to me as totems, yet I have a spirit guide who is a golden eagle.

I don't know if I'm right or wrong on this, but totems seem to not be specific beings, but an animal or other being type that has a certain kind of energy and comes to you when you need them most or when their energy would be most helpful. Spirit Guides on the other hand are specific beings that often times you eventually know by name and that are almost always around to give you support and guidance in whatever you do. Those are just my thoughts though.

Yeah, that's pretty much my thoughts on it.
