This actually happened a few months ago, back in spring and summer, but I thought I'd share and let you guys in on it.
I was taking a walk through the fields behind my house like I usually do, going to visit my horse friends, when this beautiful blue and purple dragonfly comes flying ahead of me. It sort of hovers just ahead of me, always keeping in my path. I cross through this fence into the fields of my horse friends (which is owned by a stingy old coot that would probably shoot me on sight if he saw me out there). The dragonfly turned around to face me and still kept right in my path as if to say "Stop what you're doing right now". So I stopped and I looked at him and I said "Alright, what is it?" and the dragonfly landed on a pile of gravel that I was going to cross to get to the horses. I stood still for a moment, and lo and behold, fifty feet behind where the dragonfly was the old coot that owned the land pulled up in his truck. I had the chance to beat it to the other side of the fence and then some before he got out of his truck, but if I'd not stopped, I'd've been close enough that I would've been shot by the old man. Pretty simple and slightly stupid, but I owe it to that smart little dragonfly that I'm still free to wander where I please.
Dragonflys represent magic, and illusion. I read somewhere that when a dragonfly enters our life he is trying to warn us to let go of illusion so we can see the truth and danger that lies ahead of us.
pretty nifty, no?

Yes, but... the guy would actually shoot you?

lol, no, probably not, but he'd've shoved me in his truck and taking me to the police for trespassing. Would not have gone over well lol
